Last week the Louisiana Department of Education released the school letter grades for all public schools in the state. These are referred to as School Performance Scores (SPS) and are updated annually based on LEAP Test Scores, Student Academic Growth from year to year, ACT, Graduation Rate, Strength of Diploma, Interests and Opportunities, along with several other assessments for students with special needs and English language learners.

I am proud to say that our overall school performance score is now back to where it was in 2019. Our schoolwide SPS is 72.6 C. More importantly, when our data is broken down by different groups of students, all of our subgroups are doing as well as they were before the disruption of COVID-19. Most are outperforming pre-COVID results. This score is only 2.4 points from a B. Our students and teachers worked very hard over these past 3 years to recover the lost learning during the pandemic.

I am also proud that the Morris Jeff academic program grows stronger every year without sacrificing the additional offerings such as daily language acquisition, music, art, and other electives that we know are part of the reason so many families choose Morris Jeff.  Our students are progressing by leaps and bounds!
