Students at Morris Jeff participate in inquiry-based instruction that is incorporated into our Primary Years Programme (PYP). As a world school of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) our Primary Years Programme (for grades pre-k through 5) encourages the natural curiosity of children and ties subject matter together in a meaningful, applicable manner. Along with standard, core subjects of language arts, math, science, and social studies, students have instruction in Spanish and the arts, daily. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) incorporate rigorous expectations in language arts and math that align with the standards of the IBO. Faculty at Morris Jeff have developed cross disciplinary units of study which allow students to form connections across their subjects. We invite you to come and visit our classes, and meet with our faculty and principal.
As an IBO World School, we are part of an international network of schools that share a common philosophy—commitment to a high quality, rigorous, international education that Morris Jeff Community School believes is important for our students. The framework of the Primary Years Program (PYP) allows all students to participate in research, independent and small group projects, and presentations, culminating with the Exhibition at the end of students’ 5th grade year.
In the final year of the Primary Years Programme, students, carry out an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP Exhibition. This involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real life issues or problems. Take a peak at least year’s PYP Exhibition:
