A trip to Lake Charles for “Marsh Madness” is on the line tonight in the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA 2A State Playoffs. The #9 Morris Jeff Pelicans (22-5) are on the road to battle the #1 Rayville Hornets (22-2) at 6 pm. The game will be broadcast live on the Morris Jeff Athletics YouTube channel. The Pelicans advanced to quarters with a hard-fought 91-84 overtime road win over #8 Rapides this past Tuesday night. Sophomore Will Lindsey made clutch shots in the 4th quarter and overtime and led the team in scoring with 21 points. Senior Laundale Galmore and junior Greg Hankton each added 16 points.
The Pels were hosted by Dr. Saulsberry at University Louisiana Monroe yesterday for a shoot around in the arena. They ride a 16-game win streak into tonight’s contest at Rayville, with the Hornets carrying an 18-game win streak of their own. Good luck, Pelicans!
