High School Open House - October 16, 6:00 PM, 1301 N. Derbigny

This year’s Pupil Progression Plan from the state requires us to follow new guidelines for 4th and 8th grade promotion.  With the new LEAP 2025 testing comes high stakes for students in grades 4, 8, and high school.  See the specifics below.  Read the entire Pupil Progression Plan HERE.
  • Students in grades 4 and 8 must pass the LEAP test with a score of Basic in Math or ELA and a score no lower than Approaching Basic in the other subject.
  • Students who do not meet this bar will be placed on an Individual Academic Intervention Plan.
  • Students who do not meet this bar will also be required to attend summer remediation.
  • There will be no re-test of LEAP.
  • The principal/head of school makes final decisions regarding promotion/retention.
MJCS honors our high-achieving students as LEAPStars in the spring.  All students in grades 4-9 who scored Mastery or Advanced in at least one subject (and at least Basic in all others) OR who have met their growth target set by the Louisiana Dept. of Edcuation will receive a LEAPStar polo or sweatshirt.  Students who received polos last year and qualify again this school year will receive a sweatshirt.  These shirts will be distributed after Mardi Gras break in PYP Morning Meeting and MYP Assemblies.  Congratulations to ALL of our students who qualify for this recognition.
After school tutoring begins February 19 and continues through April 20.  Students who qualify have received letters to return with permission forms attached that must be signed by a parent/guardian.
Saturday tutoring begins March 3 and continues on March 10, 17, 24, and April 14.  Letters will go home after Mardi Gras to qualifying students for Saturday sessions.
