Orientation provides students and families with important information and connects school resources with student needs. This event helps all of us prepare well for a new school year! MJCS families will learn of new initiatives, fill out essential school forms, meet teachers, obtain student schedules, confirm school transportation and greet other families. TEACHERS and SCHEDULES:

All students will meet their teachers (PreK – 5th) and/or receive their schedules (Grades 6-11) at Orientation. All PreK and new K-5 students will be contacted by teachers prior to orientation to schedule individual appointments for beginning of year assessments. Returning families of PreK students will come on August 1. Elementary families can attend the Orientation for their youngest child.

Every family needs to complete the online lunch form to avoid unnecessary bills and to maximize federal funds for our school!

REQUIRED PAPER FORMS:

Download each form, complete, and print. Bring completed forms to Orientation to turn in to your child’s teacher or advisor. Paper forms will be available at Orientation for your completion.

The Louisiana Student Residency Form is a state required form that helps schools identify a student’s residency. It is a confidential document and must be completed for each student enrolled in school.
-Answer questions 1-3 honestly by answering yes or no.
-If no is answer to question 1: go to question 9 and the form is complete.
-If yes to questions 1-3, please complete the entire form.

Please complete the student health information form every year and check any known health conditions (asthma, diabetes, ADHD, etc) your child has as well as any current medications and allergies. We are dedicated to addressing the health needs of all students enrolled at Morris Jeff to ensure that they maintain an optimal state of well-being to enhance learning.

Morris Jeff partners with Communities in Schools of Gulf South to provide school counseling services delivered by a Site Coordinator to our Middle School students. Services can include basic needs assistance, social emotional support, behavior support, enrichment activities, life skills and/or mental health support. The attached consent grants permission for your child to receive services provided or sponsored by the Communities in Schools Site Coordinator.

CONNECT WITH SCHOOL COMMUNICATIONS AND OPERATIONS

  • Opt-in from your mobile phone to MJCS text messages by sending YES to 67587.

  • Provide valuable feedback to the school through our TRIPOD survey! (coming soon)
  • Make food service/cafeteria payments with a credit card through MYSCHOOLBUCKS.
    To setup your account, follow these simple steps:
    -Search for district in the drop down menu. Select Healthy School Food Collaborative.
    -Add your student(s) and choose notifications when student(s) accounts reach a certain amount.
    -View you​r​ student(s) accounts and make a payment. Service charge may apply.
  • PowerSchool login information will be provided to each family of a NEW STUDENT at Orientation.

PHOTOS:

Middle and high school students (Grades 6-11) must attend Orientation in uniform top to take ID/yearbook pictures. Orders for pictures will be taken at the event and beyond.

ATHLETICS:

All students planning to play a sport during the 2019 – 2020 year must have a sports physical on file at school. An athletic fee of $100 will be assessed to each child for each sport.

Middle School – Free physicals will be offered to Lopez students from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 31 at Lopez campus. Form must be completed prior to physical. Contact Kiersten Thompson for more details.

High School  – Physicals will be offered at Clark campus on August 20 during school. Form must be completed prior to physical. Contact Eric Milton for more details.
