Morris Jeff believes strongly in the partnership of families for the success of students. We understand that what we offer to parents and families to support their children at our school is key to student academic achievement. We engage families in these ways.

1. Morris Jeff helps families achieve their goals for their children and embraces these goals as its own.

  • Student-Led Conferences are a collaboration between the student, their family and their teacher(s) to set goals for the coming year and reflect on them at the end of the year.
  • Individual Graduation Plans are developed with ninth grade students and are revisited annually.
  • Report cards communicate quarterly ensure students are on track to meet their goals for the year.
  • Families may contact principals or teachers at any time to discuss their student’s learning progress.

2. Morris Jeff actively engages families as partners, not service recipients. Everyone is focused on helping the student achieve their learning goals.

  • The Powerschool portal for students and guardians shows grades and attendance for every student.
  • Family-teacher conferences are offered at regular intervals throughout each academic year.
  • Elementary parents can opt-in to Fast Track SMS texts for ways to encourage literacy in emerging readers.

3. Morris Jeff anticipates families’ priorities and needs, responds to their concerns, and communicates effectively.

  • School policies, events, contact information can be found here on our website. The Pelican Press, a weekly newsletter, is emailed to all guardians on the final day of the school week as a consistent means of communicating between school and home.
  • Families can email [email protected] for response to their general concerns and questions.
  • At the end of the year, we often survey elementary families on general school practices.

4. Morris Jeff treats every family as worthy and important, acknowledging diverse perspectives and varying abilities.

  • The school makes every effort for family messages to be sent in the family’s home language. Translation services are provided as needed.
  • The school offers various uniform options for families, keeping costs low.
  • When possible, the school sends forms or surveys digitally for families to complete at their convenience.
  • School events are planned with consideration for family work commitments, and children are welcome to attend when appropriate. Student performances, special events, informational meetings are held on weekends or in conjunction with report card conferences whenever possible.

5. Morris Jeff adults and students strive to model and meet the expectations of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile attributes that are central to the development of an internationally minded citizen.
