HIGH SCHOOL (MYP/DP) DISTANCE LEARNING
Welcome to our newest high school Pelicans in ninth grade, welcome returning students in our fabulous Sophomore class and phenomenal Junior class, and a special welcome to the Class of 2021 – our very first Senior Class!
In high school, we will have a staggered start this year, with each student attending LIVE ONLINE orientation on his/her/their first day of school.
Classwork is expected to be begun by the student DURING THE SCHEDULED CLASS PERIOD, with the complete assignment/assessment or a written draft submitted DURING THE CLASS PERIOD per teacher instructions.
As long as a teacher permits, work may be unsubmitted by the student and resubmitted subsequently if a student needed more time or wished to improve a submission. However, students who wish to refine or complete an assignment should unsubmit/resubmit as soon as possible, as the original and follow up submissions will be time and date stamped, and teachers expect work to be done promptly. Most students will be able to complete most assignments within the class period, although longer or more complex readings or written assignments (such as those assigned in our Diploma Programme) and individual pacing may require additional work time.
MOST high school student schedules reflect 6 courses during this 7 period day, and have one period free for break/lunch/independent work time. Students are expected to attend class at the time indicated on the student’s schedule.
Students whose graduation progress requires 7 courses during this 7 period day, will have customized and scheduled opportunities for break/lunch. Students who have elected our IB Diploma Programme, or who have one or more un-passed courses to redeem credits for through academic Credit Recovery must complete 7 courses during this 7 period day.
